Manual Therapy involves the use of hands to help relieve pain and stiffness to encourage better movement of the body. Joints may be moved in specific directions at different speeds, muscles can be stretched and passive movements can be applied.
Common techniques used include; Maitland, Mulligan, Cyriax, McKenzie and Muscle Energy. These are used to manipulate or mobilise damaged soft tissue to restore joint movement, relieve pain and reduce soft tissue swelling or inflammation.
